 | Runners: REASONS FOR RUNNING |

More Stories From Our Runners
We have so many wonderful runners with their own reasons for being a part of the Team. Please read inside as a few more runners tell their stories.
Heather Moulton
I'm Heather, a 25 year old flight attendant from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I'm really excited to be part of Team Alzheimer's.
My sister Kristen and I wanted to run a half marathon in 2008, and since we
have family in Vermont, we chose the Covered Bridges Half Marathon. We had
a great time visiting with our grandparents and various aunts and uncles on
our trip down for the race. In June 2009, our grandmother passed away from
Alzheimer's, and when we were in Vermont for her funeral, we realized she
was buried in Quechee, just steps from the finish line of the race we had
run one year before. So, in memory of our Grandmother, we decided to become
part of team Alzheimer's and run the race again in 2010. We asked our
family members to give it a thought, and we're so excited to have (I think)
11 people on team Alzheimer's this year.
I can't wait to run the challenging course once again, with my family and
the memories of my grandmother around me, and raise money to help find a
cure for the devastating disease.
Kelley Allardi and Colleen Campbell
We are sisters and are running in honor of our grandfather, George Kelley,
who suffered from Alzheimers. We grew up in Winchester, MA and have been
running since high school. Kelley has run in the Boston Marathon and
myriads of road races, while this will be one of Colleen's first official
road races.
John Foster
I have been running since 1983 – hard to believe it has been that long! I have run 10 marathons and several half marathons over those years. My running has had its ups and downs, but it has been a consistent part of my life for 27 years.
The 2010 Covered Bridges Half Marathon will be the second time I have run with the Alzheimer’s team. I have run this race other times, but it was the most meaningful when I ran it for Alzheimer’s. Running for Alzheimer’s has extra meaning for me because my mother, Ruth Foster, had Alzheimer’s for 14 years before she died in 2003. So asking friends and family to sponsor me for this race is my way of honoring Mom. She was always a great supporter of my running and would always come to the races, as long as she was able. So I will run this race with Mom on my mind the whole way.
